As a kid born in Alberta and raised in British Columbia, you might have never guessed that I’d end up working in Ontario politics.
A high school teacher of mine got me into politics. Doing research for a history project I’d chosen in the eighth grade, I stumbled upon a person who’d made a lasting impact on people’s lives—changing Canada for the better, forever. That was Pierre Trudeau with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. I realized I wanted to make a difference for people just like he had. I ended up studying politics at Queen’s University before doing a Master’s in International Trade Policy at Carleton University, where I got my first political gig as a day-a-week volunteer in a Parliament Hill office in 2013.
In 2014 I got my start at a national public affairs agency in Toronto, working for clients in the agriculture, manufacturing, financial, education and non-profit sectors. Then in 2016 I made the jump to Queen’s Park, working in government for two years.
Both in the private sector and in government, I managed communications products and strategies of all kinds: Social media content, lawn signs, printed newsletters, website content, rapid response plans, press conferences, news releases, local advocacy campaigns, event promotions…you name it, and I’ve probably done it!
At the Ontario Liberal Party, I managed all of the Party’s communications and worked with a small team to take on enormous challenges. I worked with the Ontario Liberal Caucus and Interim Leader John Fraser to establish the Party’s interim communications strategy, designed and managed content for the Party’s social media channels, oversaw the Party’s email fundraising campaigns, created digital and print materials for two by-elections, and managed the Party’s internal communications with the board of directors and all Party members.
I also led the Party’s internal and external communications through the 2020 Leadership Election, including six all-candidate debates and the Leadership Convention in Mississauga. I also managed the email plan giving all Party members instruction on how to vote. It’s the biggest project I’ve been part of.
I’m passionate about helping people succeed.
I would love to work with you and your team to meet your communication goals!
